Printing + with Julia Swarbrick in the Elizabethan Kitchen, Lytham Hall

We scored, cut, stuck, rolled, pressed and revealed in the first of three sessions with Julia. All the processes used can be done at home. The following images will give you a sense of what to do.

I see spoons and forks quite differently now.

Ceramics Taster Session with Jeanette Lawton and Kirkham Day Care Centre Service Users

2D to 3D in the Elizabethan Kitchen, Lytham Hall

Our first art workshop at Lytham Hall, “2D to 3D” with Helen Pemberton was a session to stir creative juices. The group were introduced to mark making with charcoal and shown how to make their drawings into sculptures.

Everyone was stretched. Usually sculptures are made by cutting away the material and revealing the art within but this process was more like a DIY construction kit where you made the pieces and then fastened them together to build the sculpture.

An addictive process that resulted in fascinating pieces.

Ceramics Taster Set 1 - finished work

Kilmartin and the Potfest

I'm back...

After a few days in Scotland and a return journey via the beautiful Eden Valley and the Potfest, I'm back.

On an extremely windy day, we left the boat and explored Kilmartin on foot where we found an extraordinary series of cairns, standing stones and stone circles in a beautiful setting. The weather made it perfect.

One of my travelling companions was heading for the Potfest on the way home where I found some more Circles of Light and work that has to be seen to be fully appreciated. Personal highlights of the festival below.
