analysing composition

Following on from last weeks session, we used a series of images of photographs to analyse composition.  The set of 17 square format images were an ideal resource to study static & dynamic composition.

The images were taken from the catologue of photographer, Howard Halsall who recently had the original work on show in the Fylde Gallery, Booths Lytham.

The task:
1.  by making thumbnail sketches, show the lines and shapes that create the structure of the images
2.  use a similar process to analyse an image of a Dutch Masters' painting.

The excellent results follow.
