undercover portraits in coloured pencil

As a warm-up exercise, we drew with our less dominant hand and then our dominant hand under a tea towel so we couldn't see what we were drawing.

We then made an observational drawing of the same subject.

We repeated this process with a different subject.

The observational drawings are below.

This was fun to do, and we finished with some exceptional work.

Well done everyone!

observational drawings exploding into contrasts

After a dodgy start - who thought folding paper could be so tricky - we made observational drawings of drinking straws.  These were then exploded by drawing imaginary centre folds.

The mad & wonderful drawings are below.

Well done everyone!

[The coin is to hold the folded paper flat for the photo and to give a sense of size.]

observational drawings

using 2B pencil on A3 cartridge paper.

Once the drawings were established considerations were made to determine composition and how to proceed.

The lovely results follow.  Well done everyone one!

part of Fun Palace 2022

at St Annes Library.

Participants were invited to draw something from the objects provided or to add to prepared drawings.  Some did their own thing.  The fab results are below.

Very well done everyone - it was lovely to meet you and I learnt a few tricks too!

Expanding cup cake - yum.
