Towpath Project workshop...

Beautiful colours by our younger participants (& an infiltrator!) plus a bat.  An opportunity for some letters to be made and prepared too.
Lovely to meet everyone - thank you for coming along.

I should say the bat was requested it wasn't a random thought!  Thank you Joseph and good luck with the DoE Award.

compressed pastel, cheap erasers & kitchen towel

This was very much about process this week.

Drawing with pastel, moving around with kitchen towel, drawing with a cheap eraser then repeating as required or until we ran out of time!

Curious to see when we each added the time on the clock.

Also, the still life contained a woven basket & a woven box with a sphere made from a book but everyone concentrated on tonal values - wonderful!

colour and composition with cockerel

A still life of a cockerel, a hen, a chick and a duck in nests was the starting point.

The task...
using observational drawing techniques, block in the main shapes
consider composition
add main colours
consider composition
adjust to enhance composition

All different and all brilliant in their own way - very well done everyone!

Kate Eggleston-Wirtz, her studio and our drawings

A lovely afternoon was spent with Kate at her studio in St Annes.

Mike and I had a "tour of draws" then we settled into making large drawings of the studio.  Images follow.

Thank you for your hospitality Kate. x

Kate is having an open studio on 14 September.  watch this space...

castle colouring pages

Prompted by thinking about roses and castles, traditional narrow boat decorations, we had a look at castles.  Castles from imagination that then became potential colouring pages for children.

I know, it would have been silly not to start colouring in.  Before and after images follow.

Well done everyone!
